Be sure that your final product is free of errors. Our proofreaders maintain and integrate the same high standards of communication and accuracy.
Editorial (content) proofreading
- Read all content; check/correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Fix indisputable errors (e.g. misspellings, typos, numbering errors, verb tense errors) and errors in usage.
- Check all cross-references, indexes and table of contents, fix incorrect or outdated references
- Identify missing copy
- Refrain from questioning author's word choices unless obviously incorrect
Layout proofing
- Check that layout conforms to the style sheet (e.g. font style, font size, spacing)
- Verify heading levels
- Correct hyphenation errors
- Correct awkward page/word breaks (e.g. eliminate widows/orphans)
- Check for input errors (i.e. when the layout artist has been required to type in text or make other changes manually)
- Verify page number references in table of contents
